Swim Lessons Don't Have to End When Summer Does

During the summer, Kidtastics uses an intensive two-week lesson format that gives swimmers frequent practice over a short period of time. Once school is back in session, most families need something different.

Our fall and winter swim lesson program is built around a more flexible weekly schedule.

Families purchase a package of 8 swim lessons and most choose one of two schedules:

This makes it easier to continue swimming around school, sports, activities, and the rest of your family's schedule.

Why Continue Swim Lessons During the Fall and Winter?

One of the biggest advantages of continuing swim lessons is consistency. Children who spend several months away from the pool may need time to rebuild comfort, confidence, and swimming skills when they return.

Fall and winter lessons give swimmers regular opportunities to practice what they already know while continuing to develop new skills.

Fall and winter swim lessons can help children:

• Maintain skills developed during summer lessons
• Continue building confidence in the water
• Practice important water-safety skills
• Improve swimming technique over time
• Build a consistent swimming routine
• Prepare for the next summer swimming season

If you're ready to keep your swimmer progressing, request fall or winter swim lesson availability and tell us what days and times work best for your family.

Swim Lessons at Your Own Pool

Kidtastics is a mobile swim school, which means our instructors come to you.

Instead of driving across town for a lesson, waiting through a class, and then driving home again, your child's swim lesson takes place at your home or community pool.

For busy families, eliminating the swim-school commute can make continuing lessons during the school year significantly easier.

How Fall and Winter Swim Lessons Work

1. Request scheduling help.
Tell us where lessons will take place and provide some basic information about your swimmer or swimmers.
2. Tell us what days and times work best.
We'll use your schedule preferences when reviewing instructor options near you.
3. We help find an instructor and lesson time.
Our team reviews available options based on your location, swimmer needs, and preferred schedule.
4. Choose your weekly schedule.
Most families complete their 8-lesson package with either one lesson per week for 8 weeks or two lessons per week for 4 weeks.
5. Your instructor comes to your pool.
Once your schedule is confirmed, lessons take place right at your home or community pool.

Private, Semi-Private, and Small Group Swim Lessons

Families can choose the lesson format that best fits their swimmers.

Private Swim Lessons

Private lessons give one swimmer focused instruction with their instructor. This can be a good option for children who benefit from individualized attention or are working on specific swimming skills.

Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Semi-private options can work well for siblings or swimmers who want to learn together.

If swimmers are over age 3 and have similar ages and swimming abilities, they may be able to participate in a joint lesson.

If swimmers are under age 3, one of the parents needs to be in the water for a joint lesson.

If two children have different ages or different swimming abilities, a 45-minute semi-private split lesson may be a better fit.

In a split lesson, the first child receives approximately 22 minutes of one-on-one time with the instructor, there is approximately one minute to switch swimmers, and then the second child receives approximately 22 minutes of one-on-one instruction.

Small Group Lessons

Small group options may also be available for families with multiple swimmers who are a good fit to learn together.

Should My Child Swim Once or Twice Per Week?

There isn't one schedule that works best for every family.

One lesson per week for 8 weeks can be a good choice for families who want swimming to become part of their regular weekly routine.

Two lessons per week for 4 weeks gives the swimmer more frequent instruction and allows the 8-lesson package to be completed in a shorter period of time.

When you request scheduling help , let us know what schedule works best for your family and we'll use those preferences when reviewing instructor options.

Fall Swim Lessons Can Make Next Summer Easier

Every spring, families begin thinking about pools, vacations, summer camps, and water activities again.

A child who has continued swimming during the fall and winter may enter the next swimming season with more recent practice than a child who has spent many months away from the water.

Instead of treating swimming as something children only practice during summer, fall and winter lessons can help make swimming a skill they continue developing throughout the year.
