1How do I register for swim?
Complete the online enrollment form. Kidtastics will contact you to confirm your semester and time at least one week prior to the scheduled start date.
2What policies do I need to be aware of?
Please have your children prepared to enter the water ten minutes prior to their scheduled start time. Instructor will be entering the water with your child at their start time. Parents, please be aware that we require there be no distractions from you the parent, animals, siblings, friends, neighbors, etc… to guarantee your child receives the best swim lesson possible. Parents will be allowed to come outside and view the last five minutes of each lesson. Apply sunscreen before the teacher arrives for it to be affective. If the teacher arrives and you are applying on sunscreen causing the instructor to wait for your child to be ready to enter the water; that time will be deducted from the lessons allotted time.
3How old does my child need to be when they start swimming lessons?
We teach children as young as 6 months.
4How long of session do you suggest for my child?
• 6 months – 2 ½ years old recommended time is 30 minutes. • At 2 ½ -3 the parent can decide if they think their child has the attention span for a longer lesson. • 4+ years the lesson is 45 minutes.
5What kind of things will my child be learning in their lessons?
Water safety skills, pool rules, survival skills, stroke technique, and safe ways to enter and exit the pool.
6Why are the summer program semesters 2 weeks long with 4 classes a week?
This is an accelerated class style that is designed to help children retain the information by repeating it daily rather than once a week. We guarantee your child will learn in two weeks what would take them to learn in 4 or more months going once a week.
7Are the prices that are listed per lesson?
No, the price listed for our summer program reflects the full cost for the entire semester per child, which includes 8 lessons over a two-week period. For the most up-to-date pricing details, zip code surcharges, and policies, please refer to our Terms of Service.
8What if I want the Manager to teach my Child?
That can be made possible depending upon your location but there would be an additional management fee applied to each 8-lesson package of $50
9What if I want the Owner to teach my Child?
That can be made possible however, Laurie Ball does not travel to clients at this time. She has access to a pool she only has students come to that specific location. Please call 480-648-8082 to speak to our office about Laurie instructing your child. You will not be charged a gas fee for traveling to Laurie, but there is an owner fee applied to each 8-lesson package of $120.
10Can I get a refund for missed or canceled classes?
Vertical insurance vs Our Policy. Protect your investment or follow our policies. Get Insurance with Vertical Insure Refunds are not provided once the semester begins or for missed classes. Kidtastics will issue a full refund only if classes are canceled by Kidtastics. If Kidtastics cancels due to unsanitary pool conditions, inadequate temperature, or student pool owner conditions, no refunds or makeups will be given.
11What happens if lessons need to be canceled due to weather, illness, or emergencies?
Vertical insurance vs Our Policy. Protect your investment or follow our policies. Get Insurance with Vertical Insure Lessons canceled due to weather (cold rain, lightning, or dangerous conditions) can be rescheduled by contacting your instructor at least three hours before the lesson. Illness-related cancellations require a doctor’s note and a $30 fee or the lesson is forfeited. Emergency makeups require a $30 fee, are valid for one year, and cannot be rescheduled. Schedule conflicts are not eligible.
12Are there conditions under which lessons may be forfeited?
Yes, lessons are forfeited without refund if canceled due to inadequate pool temperature, chemical treatment, unclean water, or unsafe conditions. Group lessons cannot be individually rescheduled; if a member misses, that lesson is forfeited. Additionally, if lessons are canceled due to negative behavior by a participant, remaining lessons will be forfeited.
13What happens if I need to cancel?
Vertical insurance vs Our Policy. Protect your investment or follow our policies. Get Insurance with Vertical Insure Cancellation by an individual will result in a 75% refund until 14 days prior to the first lesson; at which time no refund is available. No refunds are given after the semester starts.
14What is the 411 on ear infections?
There are things you can do to help prevent them, such as, using products designed for prevention that can be purchased at a local drug store. This will help the first kind of ear infections caused by moisture being trapped in the outer ear canal. The second kind of ear infection is buildup in the middle ear which requires doctors attention. Most children can swim after 48 hours of being on ear medication, but check with your provider.
15Can children swim with tubes in their ears?
Yes, but we advise you speak with your physician first before doing so. Children with tubes may experience discomfort while floating on their back due to the way the tubes are built.
16What is the required attire?
Children should wear swim suits, sunscreen and swim diapers are required for all children under age 3, even those who are potty trained. At Kidtastics locations, like Salt & Sea Scuba, or community pools we require a particular diaper: Happy Nappy Duo is required. Get it here . Please have your child ready to enter the water ten minutes prior to the start of their lesson.
17Do you allow goggles during swim class?
We do not suggest the use of goggle because we do not want the child to become dependent on the use of them. Also in the case of an emergency you want to have them react to the emergency of falling in to the water versus panicking about water being in their eyes. Children swimming laps and improving stroke technique can buy our suggested goggles found on this Page .
18What is the deciding factor between 30 and 45 minute lessons?
There are many deciding factors such as: amount of children, expectations of lessons, age of children, and prior swimming experience.
19If children are on different levels of swimming do you suggest them be in a different swim group?
An instructor can try to customize to accommodate both skill levels but if it doesn’t seem to be productive for both children than we would suggest to split the time between the students. i.e. in a 30 minute lesson one student gets 15 and then the other would get 15.
20If my children are at different skill levels & ages do I have to do two separate private lessons?
Yes and No! Yes we prefer every student to get as much time in the pool as possible and prefer back-to-back private lessons for your children. However, we can also offer your family a SPLIT lesson. A SPLIT lesson is a 45 minute lesson; where one child enters solely with the instructor for 22 minutes. Then we use 1 minute to switch kids. Then the 2nd child would get in alone with the instructor and get a 22 minute swim lesson in the water. This exchange must be done quickly by the parent. This can only be done with a semi-private 45 minute lesson.
21Do you provide a group for the lessons or do we have to put it together?
In all instances the client is responsible to get the group together.
22Are classes held on holidays?
Classes do not meet on holidays, please discuss with your instructor about any possible holidays.
23What should my child wear to swim class?
Children should wear swim suits, sunscreen and swim diapers are required for all children under age 3, even those who are potty trained. At Kidtastics locations, like Salt & Sea Scuba, or community pools we require a particular diaper: Happy Nappy Duo is required. Get it here . Please have your child ready to enter the water ten minutes prior to the start of their lesson.
24Do you take photos or videos of my child during swim class?
Yes, Kidtastics will occasionally take photos/ videos of your child for promotional reason. Your consent is required on our enrollment form.
